Four Different Cloud Migration Strategies

Big Bang

The simultaneous rollout is a cloud migration strategy for implementing a cloud ERP system once all kinks are ironed out, configuration is finished, and testing and training are completed. Moving to the cloud has immediate benefits, but there's no going back once it's rolled out. Getting things right beforehand is essential.

Phased Rollout

The phased rollout prioritises the delivery of essential functions first, usually over a period of several weeks or months. Cloud migration can be done feature by feature or based on geographical location, but the latter may result in not fully benefiting from the transition. Testing in stages can help resolve issues.

Parallel Adoption

For a period of time, companies can utilise both their legacy and cloud systems together, especially for critical functions. It is important to note that data duplication may occur and should be monitored.

Hybrid

This combines all the strategies mentioned above, where a company with subsidiaries may take a big-bang approach. To release the new system in one of its businesses and a different approach for its other subsidiaries.
